College of Arts – University of Anbar

First: About the College

The College of Arts at the University of Anbar is one of the humanities colleges that aims to prepare qualified professionals specializing in the fields of humanities, languages, and social sciences.

The college contributes to the development of scientific research and community service through diverse educational and academic programs.

Second: College Objectives

To prepare graduates specializing in the humanities.

To develop scientific research in the fields of literature, language, history, and social sciences.

To serve the community through cultural studies and research.

To develop students' intellectual and scientific skills.

Third: Academic Departments

The College of Arts typically includes a number of academic departments, such as:

Department of Arabic Language

Department of English Language

Department of History

Department of Geography

Department of Sociology

Department of Media

Fourth: Admission System

Admission to the College of Arts is through the central admission system for Iraqi universities via the Ministry of Higher Education portal.

Basic Admission Requirements:

The student must be an Iraqi citizen.

Applicants must hold a preparatory school certificate or its equivalent.

Applications are submitted via the electronic form for central admissions.

Students will compete for available seats based on their GPA and preferences.

Fifth: Study Tracks
The college offers several study tracks, including:

1. Morning Studies
This track is part of the central admissions process and accepts graduates from both the Arts and Sciences branches (and Arts only for the Media Department).

The minimum GPA requirement is 60% for both morning and parallel programs. Graduates of the Islamic Studies branch of the Waqf (religious endowments) can also apply for morning and parallel programs, but only for the Arabic Language, History, and Sociology departments.

Tuition is free for morning studies, while parallel programs cost 900,000 Iraqi dinars per year, with the possibility of a discount based on the percentage determined by the Ministry.

2. Evening Studies
This track is subject to the regulations of the Ministry of Higher Education. The College of Arts includes the Media, Sociology, and Translation departments.

The minimum GPA requirement is 55%. The Media Department accepts students from all professional specializations for evening studies. The annual tuition fee is 900,000 dinars, payable in two installments: the first before the final exams of the first semester, and the second before the final exams of the second semester, with each installment being 450,000 dinars.

Sixth: Job Opportunities for Graduates
Graduates of the Faculty of Arts can work in numerous fields, including:

Teaching in schools and institutes.

Media and journalism.
