Vision, Mission and Objectives
Introduction: The Department of English Language was established in the academic year (2002–2003), and it admitted (31) male and female students. That cohort graduated in the academic year (2005–2006). The department has witnessed both qualitative and quantitative development in terms of student enrollment and graduation numbers, academic staff, and the degrees awarded by the department. The department has focused on adopting and developing modern methods of teaching and learning foreign languages using modern technology, which is reflected in its possession of one of the most advanced language laboratories in Iraq. The department awards two degrees to its graduates; in addition to the Bachelor of Arts in English Language, it also grants a “Diploma” in one of the major European languages. The department’s faculty members have a large number of scientific and research publications, and the department has made valuable contributions to community service through training courses and workshops at the college and university levels. Postgraduate studies in the specialization of (Literature) were introduced for the first time in the department, and these studies are expected to resume in the academic year (2018–2019). Vision: To enhance creativity and innovation in the field of higher education and scientific research, in a way that achieves a prestigious position for the college within the academic education system, within the framework of quality management. Mission: The department’s mission is to graduate cohorts holding bachelor’s and master’s degrees to occupy various positions, contributing to state institutions and ministries by providing translators and teachers who are capable of creativity and innovation in their specialization. 1-3 Objectives of the Academic Program:
